Police To Begin Enforcement Of BCMR Today!

The Nigeria police will begin enforcement of the Biometrics Central Motor Registry Today.
The enforcement of the new driver’s license and the number plate registration, by the Federal Safety Corps (FRSC) which is expected to begin its implementation by October 1st, coupled with the biometric vehicle registration by the police, according to reports is not suitable situation for motorists.
This the agencies say is necessary as it will enable the nation get rid of the incessant security
challenges in the country, especially terrorist attacks, because several incidents like the independence day bombing and the bombing of ThisDay Newspaper Abuja office to mention a few, were perpetrated with the aid of vehicles, hence their decision to carry out the registrations.
The Police and Road Safety officials claim that if such vehicles were properly registered the perpetrators of such terror attacks could have easily been traced.
However, motorists anticipate multiple spending for these registrations.
According to reports, the current number plate, which is being phased out now was introduced few years back by the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC).
This same agency is responsible for the production of the new number plates and new driver’s license.
The official cost of the new number plate is N15, 000, while the cost for the replacement of the old number plate is N10, 000.
