September 10th event confirmed by Apple, new iPhones on the way
Apple has issued invites for their September 10th event, confirming what has been more or less penciled in for a few weeks now. The focus will be on new iPhones, and the invitation itself hints at the colorful array of handsets headed our way.The text reads “This should brighten everyone’s day” along with a multitude of color swatches. The palette is decidedly iOS 7, and quite a few of the tones match what we have seen leaked of the iPhone 5C. That’s the low cost/entry level phone expected to be introduced on the 10th alongside
the iPhone 5S, an update to last year’s iPhone 5.
How the two devices will vary from the current generation of iPhones and each other isn’t quite known. The iPhone 5S is expected to introduce a fingerprint sensor, A7 processing, and perhaps a camera upgrade. The iPhone 5C may feature internals similar to the iPhone 5.
But the most attention has been paid to the color option, which Apple has played up in the invite. Alongside several finishes that will be available for the plastic shell of the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 5S will see a new gold/champagne model and possible a 4th “graphite” look.
That’s what we are fairly certain of. Apple could have a few surprises up their sleeve, though (iPads, anyone?).
