PDP willing to merge with other parties

Following its shocking loss in the 2015 general election, 'former' ruling camp, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has indicated the possibility of merging with other parties.
In a series of tweets on Sunday, May 17, the party publicly acknowledged its failures and wrong doings of the past, stressing the need to rebuild a new PDP that will be formidable even in the face of adversaries.
For 16 years, PDP produced leaders who determined the fate of Nigeria and ruled in different capacities – Presidency, Senate, Governorship, House of Assemblies, Federal and State Parastatals, and at Local Government levels.
But the March 28 and April 11 general elections in Nigeria changed it all. PDP was shown the way out.

Henceforth Call Me Muhammadu Buhari

With the acronym, GMB (General Muhammadu Buhari) he rode to victory at the last general election but he now wants to be addressed differently.

The official portraits of Nigeria’s president-elect and his vice-president, have been unveiled by their media team in Abuja.
And after being sworn in on 29 May, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari will now want to be addressed simply as Muhammadu Buhari, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I'm leaving the country with my family - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has said he would be taking a short break outside the country with his family after leaving office on May 29. The outgoing president of Nigeria told the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he would return stronger to help rebuild the party after the break.

The President was reported to have heaped the blames of his defeat on some of his very close aides, citing example of a Special Adviser from the North who did not even vote on the day of Presidential election. President Jonathan warned the leadership of the party to stop the blame game and urge them not to allow the party disintegrate because of the 2015 general elections.

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole set to re-marry this Friday

Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole is reportedly getting ready to re-marry, 5 years after losing his first wife, Clara, to cancer in 2010.

According to sources close to the governor, Governor Oshiomole will be getting married to Miss Lala Forte at the Etsako West Local Government Council Marriage Registry, Auchi on Friday May 15th by 10am. Reception will take place at the People's Hall in Iyamho, Edo state.

Oshiomhole has already sent out a personally signed letter to friends and associates inviting them to his wedding. Now going to look for pics of the girl. I hear she's non-Nigeria & is a former air-hostess.

EFCC Arraigns Five Suspected Internet Fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 11, 2015 arraigned Uchenna Nwako, Ejikeme Oluchukwu, Nnamani Ikechukwu, Ibeh kodili Martins and Nwako Victoria Ifeoma before Justice D.V Agishir of the Federal High Court, Enugu, on a 16-count charge bordering on intent to defraud and obtaining N26,338,000 by false pretence.

The five accused persons were picked up by EFCC operatives on February 27, 2013 after intelligence reports indicated that they were involved in fraudulent activities bordering on cybercrime.

Part of the charge read: “That you Uchenna Nwako, Ejikme Oluchukwu, Nnamani Ikechukwu, Ibeh Kodili Martins and Nwako Victoria Ifeoma sometime in November 2012 in Enugu, Enugu

Pele to be released from hospital on Saturday

Brazilian football legend Pele, is expected to leave hospital on Saturday, after undergoing prostate surgery.

The Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, on Friday released a statement, explaining that Pele was recuperating well after a transurethral resection of the prostate.
This is the second time within six months, that the 74-year-old has been hospitalized, but the hospital insisted no tumours were found after he was treated for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, was treated for kidney problems in early December.

Buhari will jail corrupt officials in his government – Momoh

A former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh, has warned that the government of Gen Muhammedu Buhari (rtd), will not tolerate corruption.

According to him, any one found guilty of corruption will be jailed.

He said this yesterday during the maiden meeting of the One Voice Nigeria (OVN)-Discourse/Leadership Colloquium.

Momoh hailed the group for aiding the course of the president-elect through the social media, saying its strong presence helped Buhari win.

Senators and members of the House of Representatives that will constitute the 8th National Assembly and ministers to be appointed by President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will on assumption of office receive welcome perks amounting to N9bn.

The perks of office include the housing allowance which each of the incoming office holder is entitled to receive once a year, the furniture allowance which they are entitled to once in four years and motor vehicle loan which they are entitled to once in their tenure.

The perks are some of the non-regular allowances that the political office holders are entitled to as prescribed by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

7 Terrorists Camps Destroyed As Additional 25 Women; Children Rescued

Seven additional terrorists camps were yesterday destroyed as more terrorists also died in the ongoing onslaught to flush them out of Sambisa forest. An additional 25 women and children were rescued in the process.
The troops who scaled series of land mines in continuation of the assault on the forest bases of the terrorists, captured camps which include the four notorious Alafa camps as well as those in Rogo Fulani, Laraga and others used as training camps in the forest. Various weapons including Rocket Propelled Grenades, Anti-Aircraft Guns and a number of vehicles were either captured or destroyed during the operation. Four soldiers were wounded and have evacuated for treatment.
